Melissa's Ode to Ledbury

Many of us lifelong Shire enthusiasts will tell you that there is no place better than Herefordshire in the Autumn. 

As I’m sat here typing this in the shop, tractors full of apples trundle through the high street filling the air with their sweet scent and promise of cider. 

We are lucky here in Ledbury, as we have a thriving town centre but we are never far away from our rural roots and the trees opposite the famous clock tower are turning red to remind us of the sleep and restoration that winter brings nature.  Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays we are lucky enough to be blessed with market stalls right outside our doors - most selling seasonal flowers and seasonal fruit and vegetables.

Eastnor Castle at this time slows down for winter, shutting its great doors to keep out winters chills -  however this time of year is when the Landrover Experience comes in to its own.  Set in the grounds of the castle and winding through an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ it really is the ultimate adventure.  Muddy slopes transcend into wild streams that test your last nerve and put the car through the paces it was always designed to make.  The guides are so knowledgeable of the cars and the local area, making this the perfect outing or even a gift.

My husband and I have always said “all roads lead to Pickersleigh” whenever we pop over the hill to Malvern.  This is because of the huge presence that Morgan Motors and its Visitor Experience has in the Victorian Spa Town.  With nearly half a million visitors each year visiting the classics home in Pickersleigh Road, the experience is one not to be missed.  Whether it’s seeing behind the scenes at how they are made, enjoying afternoon tea in their restaurant or even hiring one of their cars for the day or the weekend, there is something for everyone.
